MEETING WITH ENGLISH TEACHING VOLUNTEERS
On September 13, 2016 Bac Lieu University officially had an orientation meeting to welcome Helyati Binti Mohamad, Nur Amalina Binti Borhan and Zatil Iffah Jahirah HJ Awg Tengah - English Teaching Volunteers (ETVs) from SJ Viet Nam. The meeting delightedly had the presence of:
+ Mr. Huynh Xuan Phat - Dean of Education Faculty,
+ Ms. Hua Bich Thuy – Vice dean of Education Faculty,
+ Ms. To Viet Thu – Chief of International Co-operation Department,
+ Ms. Huynh Hong Hoa – Vice Head of Foreign Language Division – Education Faculty,
+ Ms. Sam Ngoc Kha Tu – Teacher of Foreign Language Division – Education Faculty,
+ Ms. Huynh Thi Ut – Teacher of Foreign Language Division – Education Faculty,
+ Ms. Truong Thi Nhu Y – Teacher of Foreign Language Division – Education Faculty,
and officers from International Cooperation Department.
In the meeting, the heads of International Cooperation Department, Education Faculty and Foreign Language Division firstly had a warm welcome to the ETVs, then provided them with information about the regulations, the tasks and requirements of BLU for their working. Accordingly, during 3 months working here, ETVs takes responsibility for working as teaching assistants in Listening - Speaking skills and Interpretation. Besides, ETVs will support English Speaking Club for students and English discussion sessions among teachers from departments. At that time they will organize some Brunei culture events in order to create the best learning occasions for Bac Lieu University’s students to practice what the students have studied.
Furthermore, ETVs will take part in activities and local traditional festivals, which help them understand more about the country, people, culture in Vietnam generally and in Bac Lieu City particularly. ETVs showed their deep gratitude to the Rector Board, heads of International Cooperation Department and Education Faculty for providing them the good working and living conditions. They also promised to try all their best to impart their knowledge to help the students have more knowledge and speak English confidently.
