On the morning of November 20th, 2023, at the meeting hall - Information and Library Center, Bac Lieu and Tra Vinh University collaborated to organize the Opening Ceremony of the Khmer (Cambodian) Language Training class for local government jobholders’ type 3 and 4 in the year 2023.
Attending the ceremony, there were
- Dr. Tien Hai Ly - Vice President of Bac Lieu University;
- Dr. Thach Thi Dan - Vice President of Tra Vinh University;
- Mr. To Thanh Phuong - Head of the Ethnic and Religious Committee in Bac Lieu province;
- Representatives of the Ethnic and Religious units of districts, towns and cities; Leaders of Bac Lieu University’s departments and faculties; along with the presence of nearly 120 learners are local government jobholders’ type 3 and 4 in the year 2023.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of Tra Vinh University, Dr. Thach Thi Van - Vice President sent her warm greetings and best wishes to the leaders, teachers, and learners. The Vice President said that the Ethnic and Religious Committee in Bac Lieu province and Tra Vinh University have had very closed coordination in implementing Content 1, Subproject 2 of Project 5 of the National socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas target program in the period 2021 – 2030 and 2021 - 2025 to deploy Khmer language training courses for groups of local government jobholders in Bac Lieu province. The two units have already learned about each other's strengths and needs. Tra Vinh University has enough human resources and much experience in training Khmer language.
Therefore, we can undertake on schedule its training assignment and meet the goal of training the Khmer language, helping the learners form and develop the ability to use Khmer language at a basic level at their working places. This is a prerequisite condition for them to learn at advanced levels and self-improvement after the course. The learners will focus on fostering and developing their integrated language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) through common topics or everyday communication situations.
Besides, the learners are equipped with linguistic knowledge (phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, semantics), and improve their communication ability in Khmer; the course provides them with general knowledge about culture - society, customs and daily life of the Khmer ethnic people. From there, they can be able to use Khmer language to meet their assignment at working places or at locations with a large number of Khmer ethnic people; it contributes to orient learners to have correct awareness of the Khmer ethnic group and humane behavior.
She also hopes that the learners will strive to overcome difficulties with a sense of responsibility, determination, diligence and solidarity, sharing with each other in learning; The assigned lecturers will strive to convey and guide the learners to gradually help them have more fun, enjoy interesting experiences in learning and achieve the expected learning results. At the same time, we hope that we will continue to receive support from Bac Lieu University in the process of organizing class activities.

Also at the ceremony, Mr. To Thanh Phuong sent his thanks to Bac Lieu University for coordinating to support facilities so that the training class could take place on schedule. Mr. To Thanh Phuong hopes that the learners have to take the course with their serious-minded attitude, promote their self-study and self-training. After finishing, the learners can apply effectively in practical situations to contribute to the socio-economic development of their province.
Khmer language training class for local government jobholders’ type 3 and 4 in the year 2023 will take place in 2 months, beginning from November 20, 2023. During the course, Bac Lieu University will coordinate regularly and closely with Tra Vinh University and the leaders of the Ethnic and Religious Committee in Bạc Lieu province to promptly grasp information about the training situation.
